February 4, 2004 - Picture Left: Can you spot the two Americans?

To obtain project funding through Peace Corps, Aida and I attended a training session held in Los Banos. It was sure fun to see other Americans again. My normal conversation with students in Carigara is about the latest Starstruck show or something like that. I enjoy these conversations but it is nice to have a change. My english conversation abilities have really gone downhill.
After the training, I visited Manila for a few days. I had a great time in Manila. I got my yoga fix and visited my friends at the Yoga Foundation of the Philippines. To your right are a few of my friends and members of Team Yoga. They will spread the benefits of exercise and a healthy diet.

Jonathan (below) could be a yoga guru someday.
|The picture below is of a couple of travel exhausted Americans. Behind us is Greenbelt 3, my favorite place in Manila. It is beautifully landscaped and filled with interesting restaurants. Great for people watching. There are stylish Filipinos at hangouts like Absinith Bar and
Temple Bar. You can also see all the coolest phones in use, like the SonyEricsson P900.

My newest job is PE teacher. Thanks to the football, I have been teaching a version of the classic american game to my 6th graders. They seem quite happy to play. The girls even wanted their own game. I went shopping for a soccer ball in Manila and I hope to continue with the sporting theme.

I have now been in the Philippines for one year and it has been a great experience.
I have slightly over a year left in the Philippines. I will be sad to see my 6th graders move on in a few months. I don't have any grand travel plans in the Philippines. My host family does not travel like that, I don't see why I should. What I do might not help a family avoid hardship, but I hope I can provide a little happiness to a few.
