| Please note - Pupils should pack their belongings in a soft holdall, and not a suitcase please.
4 changes of underwear 4 shirts or T shirts 4 sweaters - Fibre pile, fleece or wool is much better than cotton Several pairs of thick socks - loop stitch or wool is best Several track suit bottoms, warm leggings or trousers. (Trousers and socks are the most likely clothing to get wet. Jeans are not really suitable.) 2 pairs of trainers or plimsolls. They are likely to get wet or muddy! Woolly hat and gloves. A scarf would be useful in winter. Shorts and swimming costume. Torch and spare batteries. Most courses will include a night activity. Casual wear for evenings should include a pair of soft shoes or slippers. Nightwear, toilet kit, towel, pen and pencil. Polythene bag to take home wet or dirty clothes. It is worth bringing a camera and a wristwatch, and in summer sunscreen or sunblock cream may be needed. In winter conditions, generally from October to April, more layers of clothing are needed. Long legged and long sleeved thermal underwear is ideal, but extra shirts and track suit bottoms would do instead. Please do not allow your child to bring food and drink as it causes problems. They tend to eat it just before the evening meal, and it makes a mess! There is nowhere to store it, and it will not be allowed in bedrooms. NOT PERMITTED: Knives, matches, and lighters. Smoking is not allowed anywhere during the visit, and pupils will be brought home if they are found smoking, or in the possession of cigarettes. Personal stereos, radios, C.D. players or any type of music device. Clothing with inappropriate emblems or designs, (for example - F.C.U.K.). Hair dryers or straighteners, (hair dryers are provided in each bedroom). Mobile telephones can be taken if absolutely necessary, although we would rather they were left at home - they cause problems regarding security, and they interfere with the smooth running of the course. There is a payphone which pupils can use if they need to. Any mobile telephones that are taken will be looked after by the staff during the day. |
