| Slobberbone @ Schuba's Were it not for the extraordinary amount of alcohol I drank both prior to and during the show (at one point a bartender ripped a beer right out of my hand, or so I hear), this may have been one hell of a night. Coming on the heels of the devastation in NYC, the show was an opportunity to "forget", if only for a few moments, the evil that lurks in the world. Earlier in the week I had the chance to check out the Vigilantes of Love, but I was so drained from what had been going on that I sat at the bar and nursed a beer all night instead. Unfortunately, unlike the last time Slobberbone was in town, they didn't come back to my place for a post-show party. Seems their "friend" in town wanted them to stay at his place, dammit, and on top of that, he wasn't willing to entertain guests. The asshole. I know the show opened with "That is All" which is one of the very best Slobberbone songs out there. They would later play "Rockin' in the Free World", which I'm sure was cathartic. I got the chance to meet Ruby and her drumsticks, as well as cathyw and her fiancee Chris, both great kids. The bulk of my night was spent trying to buy recovering alcoholic Danny Black a Beck's. That explains it all. HOME |
