| ELTON JOHN @ THE PALLADIUM, NYC You're not very critical when you're 7. Who has time? There are too many things to do, too much fun to have. The Elton John show at the Palladium had been built up for weeks. My first concert . . . And it was Elton John!!! Not a bad thing to see Elton John play a tiny theatre in the mid-70s. I was just a kid, and hell it might've been an off night for Elton, but to this day I will never forget that night. When people ask me what my favorite moment is, my mind races back to that night at the Palladium. In the moments preceding the show, with the house lights on and the crowd buzzing . . . when suddenly the lights go down, the spotlight hits the stage, and there sits Elton at the piano with one of his get-ups. That moment, right there, is it for me. What a rush. I couldn't even tell you half the songs he played that night. I remember hearing "Rocket Man" and "Bennie and the Jets" and many other hits. But what I really remember was the rush I felt when Elton appeared on stage. For the first time, I was moved by music. Lc. HOME |
