Chicago Clubs

Delilah's (2771 N. Lincoln Ave.)
Delilah's is located just south of the corner of Diversey and Lincoln in Lincoln Park.  Atypical of Lincoln Park yuppiehood, the bar has a dark decor, with art adorning the walls.  Each night there's a different theme at the club, with favorites being "alt-country Wednesdays" where you can hear guest DJs spin traditional and "no depression" style country music, washed down with $2 PBRs; Punk Mondays with buck beers; and rock and roll on Fridays. The crowds vary, with bikers, punks, and yuppie-scenesters filling the room.

Tippling House (2843 N. Halsted)
A relatively relaxed bar on the border of Lakeview and Lincoln Park, the Tippling House features live music every weekend, and open mikes every Wednesday.  A pretty weak jukebox, but the decor is inviting.  Great burgers and fries.

The Hideout (1354 W. Wabansia)
The Hideout is in the warehouse district east of Wicker Park, at Wabansia and Elston.  Hard-to-get to, it is well worth it.  A quaint room, very warm and friendly, with a separate music room in the back.  The bar is tended by fine folks such as Tatiana, Anastasia, Kelly, and Mike.  Club owners Tim and Katie always have a smile at the ready.  The club hosts music nightly, with national acts such as Centro-matic, Alejandro Escovedo, and Neko Case making their way in for frequent visits.  Be sure to take advantage of the $1.50 PBRs.

Rose
(2656 N. Lincoln Ave.)
Go to the Rose for buck beers always, a history lesson from Rose herself, a jukebox full of 45s, a pool table and an escape from the nearby annoyances of Gin Mill and Bordo's.  Rose is just north of Lincoln and Wrightwood.  A wonderful way to pass the night, and get drunk for 10 bucks.

Twisted Spoke (501 N. Ogden)
The Twisted Spoke, located west of the loop (west of Racine, south of Grand Ave.), offers its city-famous half-pound Fatboys (burgers), and the best omelettes and bloody marys this city has to offer.  It's a biker bar, and bring your wit, because it'll be tested by the friendly, in-your-face staff.

Jake's Pub (2932 N. Clark)
Jake's Pub is great if only for its jukebox, which features ALL FOUR Uncle Tupelo CDs (I've never seen this before), in addition to some punk, rock, and indie classics.  Plus, they serve PBR, which is always bonus.

Carol's Pub (4659 N. Clark)
Carol's Pub offers old-school fun Thurs-Sat nights.  There's a house band that plays country classics until 4am.  No cover.  Fantastic.
