I am becoming more and more
interested in the totemic value
of architecture particularly as it resonates,
like all art and literature, with
the blueprint of civilization.
That is, architecture, like art (from music
to film to capitalist democracy's)
functions with such agile
response to changes in cultural
environment that they function much
like the ideal individual -
they are, like the great nation
of Canada, archetypes as well as totems
of freedom....
