COWWHIPS

Florida Cowwhips are almost like a variation on the classic Australian stockwhip. The action is somewhat similar. The cowwhip is the traditional herding whip of the Florida Crackers--essentially Floridian cowboys. The whips are usually constructed of nylon parachute cord as opposed to leather, and have a wooden handle. The body of the whip is tied to the handle through a pair of holes. This type of whip is useful in wet climates because nylon, unlike leather, is not damaged by moisture. The florida cowwhip, along with the australian stockwhip, is one of the few whips still in regular use on ranches today.
