The PSG-1 (Prazision Schützen Gewehr Eins), product of the famous German firm, Heckler&Koch proved to the whole wide world, that a semi-automatic rifle can be as good as a bolt action one. Though some of the companies claim, that it isn't the most accurate semi auto, yet even this is the standard everyone must meet. Some word on its accuracy. Every single rifle is tested by the factory. Every rifle must shoot 50 cartridges within a 80mm / 3.14 inch circle at 300 m. It means more or less 1 MOA, and remember ! 1 MOA may sound not so good compared to some extremly accurate 0.25MOA rifles, but we are speaking now about 1 MOA with a 50 round group instead of a 3 or 5 round !!

PSG-1 is a very popular weapon, mostly used buy police special, CT units, because it doesn't suits to military environments. It has two reasons. First, it ejects the shells about 10 meters, and this can easily give away snipers' position, and second, it only can be fitted with the Hensoldt 6x42 sight which reduces its max. effective precision range to 500-600 m. And the optimal engagement range for military snipers just starts there...One more disadvantage is the price. Well...this is one of (if not the) most expensive sniper rifle.Only the most elite groups can afford the 9000 USD price of it.

The whole rifle is based upon the H&K 91, a civilian version of the well-known H&K G3A assault rifle, and they used some other elements of other H&K weapons too - as usual.The barrel is a heavy free floating one, which means that it is attached only to main body, nothing else. Thats why it is so accurate (less resonance ! ). The barrel can maintain the same accuracy till 15.000 shots. The other very important part is the scope, is attached to a T shaped rail. It is adjustable between 100-600 meter in 6 phase. Crosshair can be illuminated, it will stay illuminated for 2 minutes after pressing the button, then switch off. You can further refine aiming by the buttons on top and side. At 100 meter distance, one click moves the supposed impact point by 1 cm (horizontally/vertically). You may find the buttstock similar, it is from the H&KG21 machine gun, though the lower part is cornered, so the shooter can push better the butt to his shoulder with the unused hand. Height and length are adjustable. Cheekpiece is fully adjustable too. The most interesting and characteristic part of the rifle is the pistol grip. It is a beautiful one, with ergonomically perfect design.

The quite heavy weapon is carried in a special aluminium case (10.4 kg) which makes altogether 21 kg with tripod and other accessories.
