OLD FASHION PEANUT BUTTER FUDGE

1 1/2 CUPS SUGAR
1       CUP MILK
1       TBL. MARGARINE
1       TSP. VANILLA
3/4    CUP PEANUT BUTTER (CHUNKY OR SMOOTH)

IN HEAVY SAUCEPAN MIX SUGAR AND MILK.  HEAT AND STIR OVER MEDIUM HEAT TIL SUGAR DISSOLVES AND MIXTURE COMES TO A BOIL.  COOK TO SOFT-BALL STAGE 9234-238 DEGREES).  STIR ONLY WHEN NEEDED.  REMOVE FROM HEAT.  ADD VANILLA AND MARGARINE.  BEAT VIGOUSLY UNTIL MIXTURE HOLDS IT'S SHAPE.  ADD PEANUT BUTTER; BEAT TIL FUDGE BECOMES VERY THICK AND STARTS TO LOSE IT'S GLOSS.  SPREAD IN PAN.  COOL.  CUT INTO SQUARES.
