Vandarin
Paladin Dietrich Vandrin of the Northern Elfland Territory ap Elven Golden City Azlon
Azlon Elven Golden City
Deep within the forests of the Wolfen Empire the once lost Elven Golden City is now thriving. A decade ago the illustrious paladin Dietrich Vandrin set his eyes upon this ancient city, his long search was finally at an end. Vandrin met with Wolfen Empire Officials to gain self-rule of the Northern Elfland Territory. Wolfen had been waiting for such a day that the Elves would return. All Elves are now welcome to the revitalized city, Wolfen are welcome visitors and recruits. Hundreds of elves have arrived over the past years, mostly peasants and merchants who try their fortune in a new land. Great amounts of gold collected during Dietrich Vandrins various quests, and now within the Elfland Treasury, help to bring newcomers and stabilized the economy. Elven Lord Kril coins are the territories official coinage, but Wolfen coins are common. Ports on this river city have been renewed and goods flow freely to and from Wolfen outposts and cities. The Northern Elfland Territory is relatively safe and secluded. An Elite Wolfen Volunteer Army trains at the city and keeps a close guard. A select few experienced Elvish warriors, though few remain, have been brought in to train the elite Wolfen Army in the ways of the ancients. It is hoped that this army will grow in strength and numbers to one day be sent on the Quest.
Dietrich Vandrin
More than seven years ago I journeyed out from my Golden City to find the Original Capital City of the Old Kingdom. A once cherished land is now controlled by orcs, goblins, trolls and the like, a land all but forgotten to civilization. Azlon was but a gathering point, a staging area for the ultimate goal, the Quest, to reclaim the entire Old Kingdom. I realize the reign of the Elves is long past, but perhaps some remnant can remain and multiply, for the good of all. The future world belongs to Men and Wolfen, but with their aid a prosperous Elven Kingdom may be reborn.
Seven long years of confinement within the dark confines of this great hole in the earth, I sit upon a worn stone seat carved into the cavern wall. I keep my mind busy, mental games, planning for a new kingdom, and hopes of escape, blocking the insanity that continually tries to conquer me. Kept alive only to serve as a trophy to the powerful Orc-Mage, Holgot, I long to return to the Golden City, its cool river and endless surrounding forests. This pit must be magically sealed, yet food appears each day in the same place and time, so it seems, for this is the only way to keep track of the days that have passed. Perhaps a search party, or even an army, from Azlon will find me in this retched place. If only the Orc-Mage would soon die, or be killed, then the magical seal would die with him and the exit revealed. Surely an Elf will outlive an Orc, even a mage.
Holgot's Defeat
The Orcish Horde fortified in it's cavernous hillside is before Kosgriton's small army of young wolfen, years of training will soon be tested. Ten months of egratious travel over treaturaous terrain, fatiuge is setting in, but the soldiers are strong and ready. From a rocky outcroping two aged Elves overlook the field of battle, plotting an attack. Salindalok agree's with Lorzal's observation, and will lead the majority of the forces to the south for a direct assalt, while Lorzal will flank from the east with a platoon of elves. Lorzal is to find and destroy Holgot within the depths of the infested mount during Salindalok's offensive...
The invisible wall containing Dietrich Vandrin vaporizes as Holgot is forced to use all his power's to combat Lorzal's deadly abilities. Vandrin quickly realizes the possible release from the earthen prison and sprints down the cavern. He yearns to hold the blade that is detereating from neglect so that he may inact his vengence. Vandrin is much weaker than when he arrived, skills developed and perfected have gone unused, but elation of possible freedom and rage against the Orcs have made him a formittable encounter.
...The Orc-mage's court is a showroom of weapons, armor, and gold, collected from those that have been captured for his pleasure, yet today the court display's it's owner's corpse as well. Lorzal, Salindalok, and thier forces have won the day. Vandrin is free to return home.
Voyage to the Golden City
As a golden perrot sours over-head, the remaining troop of Elves, Wolfen, and the feline hunter Rue are making the return trek to the port city of Klaskoyer where three transport ships are docked and a guard force await their arrival.
