My kennel name is Lancia Kennels. We got our first 2 sheltie's in the fall of 1969. They were for our son Austin's 4H obedience project and AKC obedience too. They would be just the right age to train come spring. The male pup went over size but made a great obedience dog and won several trophys and titles. The female didn't do as well, and we placed her in a pet home. Then our shelties went from 2 to 3, then 4. Number three turned out to be a good brood bitch with nice babies. If you go back far enough in the pedigrees of my current dogs, they are there. By now, we were showing in conformation too. Number four stayed small but we showed her some, but was to small for most judges. She had 2 litters of 1 pup each. We got a nice male from this girl which we kept, and you can also find him way back in my pedigrees. We are in Missouri at this time and did have a finger in getting the Greater Kansas Shetland Sheepdog club started. I am still a long distance member of the club. We moved to oregon in 1978, bringing 14 adult shelties and 3 three- week- old pups and the cats. It was quite a trip, but all arived ok. My Sables go back to the old lines of CH Halstor's Peter Pumpkin, CH Romayne's Sportin Life ROM, Banchory Reflection ROM, CH Windhover Sweet Music Man ROM and even older lines of Aron-Kae Kennel. My AOAC's go back to the old lines of CH Cherdons Sock it to "Em ROM, Ch Banchory Thunder Blue ROM, CH Formal Notice ROM, CH Cameo Total Eclipse. These are just a few of the oldies in my lines today. Over the years of showing I have had several champions (AM/CAN/NAT/INT) and love them all. I have good movement in my lines. They are intelligent and at times they can be a challenge to keep one step ahead of them. I work in a pre school and I find that working with the fur kids and children are very similar. Sometimes the aggravate you; and make you laugh, and I love them all. |
