| Vampire The Masquerade - Redemption Graphics 3/5 The graphics of redemption were of average quality for the time period. The animations were also average as well as pretty much everything else. So this is neither bad, nor good. Play Control 7/10 The play control was quite annoying sometimes, and the AI of the people with you was pretty dumb. But beside this, it was a pleasant smooth ride through the game while using the avatars in it. Interface 9/10 The only downside of the interface is that it was not particularly pretty. Other than that, it was easy to use, user friendly, efficient, and quickly accessed. Fun 9/15 The main flaw of the game is that it is more a Dungeons and Dragons game rather than a Vampire the Masquerade game... I mean come on, potions and scrolls? That's lame! Also, the fact that you could basically have all the disciplines in the book made no sense, the people who made the game OBVIOUSLY KNEW LITTLE about Vampire the Masquerade... VtM's company should have sued them for not being loyal to their product. The game is pleasant to go through ONCE, other than that, it's not worth more time to spend on it. The fact that you have one character only and cannot create your own like in VtM sucks royally. Depth 4/10 There is a good many hours of game, but not enough to my taste, it could have been much more than just a hack and slash game... which Vampire The Masquerade is not, but we already know that the company who made this game knew little about Vampire the Masquerade's world AND game system. There is little to no background to the game world you are in, little to no movie sequence to add more flavour to the game, etc. Story 6/10 The story is somewhat plausible for the Vampire the Masquerade's World, but nothing to be proud of. It is an entertaining story, but you're not like in the "Just one more hour, I want to see what's going to happen..." mood while playing. A very straightforward story with no surprises or anything outside a Final Fantasy-like story where you do not have a single choice to take in the story, you cannot alter or change it at all. Idea 5/5 Was the first commercial game on Vampire the Masquerade, both original and nice to have finally a video game in that dark gothic world. Non-Linearity 0/15 Nothing, no open-endedness, no freedom of choice, no action-reaction sequences, no multiple endings (well, worth mentioning), etc. So a big zero here since there is nothing to evaluate. Interpretation 5/15 The idea was poorly interpreted at best, and the game designers should have made their homework and repsect Vampire The Masquerade's world AND game system. The rest of the game was more or less well interpreted... I don't remember if there were voice acting or simply text dialogs, but I know it was solid enough to be credible and somewhat entertaining. Completion 4/5 Very average completion, needed patches (-1), but no expansions (+1), thus why it has four out of the five instead of three. I like complete games that have no expansion packs. 52 / 100 Rent it, don't even bother buying this thing, if you do it will be like buying food, once you have eaten that food, you're done, no more. In other words, once you went through the game you won't play it anymore and it will go into the trash can eventually. So rent at most, it is not a must play like Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines which is a hundred times better in every way. Download if you can't rent or borrow, then erase the game when you,re finished, not really worth keeping anyways, even for fans of Vampire the Masquerade since it is totally oblivious of the world and game system of VtM. |
