who died
ye 30 April 1805 Aged 70 years
Farewell my wife and children three
Who in this life never more shall see
Here I shall rest and evermore remain
Until the day we all shall meet again
When me you left I thought of your returning
Alas my hopes are fled and you are mourning
So farewell friends and aquaintence all
Pas by this tomb in friendship call
Look on the same without grief or fear
As my choice is to be buried here.

No grassy turf e-er greenly grew
Where rest remains more dear
Nor ever beat a Heart more true
Than now lies mouldering here.
For Husband Father Brother Friend
Our silent tears are shed
And sorrows deepest sighs attend
The mansion of the dead.
But resignation meek and mild
Sooths passion into peace
And hope religion well taught child
Bids every murmer cease.

Lord we confess thy sentence
Just that sinful flesh should turn to dust
That we ere long, should yield our breath
The captives of all conquering death.
Then oh my soul be not dismayed
But rest thy hope on Heavenly aid
And when God summons thou may rise
And spring to life beyond the skies.

Behold dear friends as you pass by

Great God on what a slender thread hangs everlasting things
Eternal state of all the dead lies upon feeble strings
Waken O Lord our drowsy souls, to walk this dangerous road
And if our souls are hurried hense
May they be found with God.

Cease dear friend and weep no more
We are not lost but gone before.
