C9-25 MARINE DROPSHIP, CLASS NINE

C9-25 with wings deployed

WEAPONRY

The C9 is an aerospace capable ship and tactical transport that can lift heavy payloads up to 16,000 kg. It can attain orbit under its own power from unprepared landing sites because of its vectored thrust capability, which makes it more flexible than other craft. The Dropship can also operate as a close-support gunship by using its own internal guns and deploying weapons pods and hardpoints for rockets and missiles. The loading ramp descends between the two fore skis, opening to the front. A third ski is behind the loading ramp, providing the C9 with a tripod landing stance. The ship has no impulse or warp capabilty, and there are no deflector sheilds present. During spatial flight (in space) the four wings are folded in. Once atmospherincal manueverablity is required, the wings are opened, increasing the pilots control.

The C9 carries all equipment required by a thirty-two marine platoon, including:

C2-9 MARINE ARMORED PERSONNEL CARRIER (APC), CLASS TWO

C2-9 APC

WEAPONRY

A lightweight, mobile, well-armed and inexpensive APC capable of being transported in the C9-25 Dropship. Its armor protection can deflect small arms fire, fragmentation, and low-velocity armor piercing ammunition. It is operated by the driver and section commander and has space for 32 passengers. The interior can carry ammunition and supplies for up to three days of combat.

BUTTERFLY CLASS MARINE SCOUT WALKER UNIT

Butterfly Walker

Three of the massive Walkers assigned to the USS Valkyrie are Butterfly class Units, scout walkers built for speed and intel gathering, not combat. Lightly armed with a single rocket pod and two pulse cannons, the Butterflies aren't much of a match for anything bigger than a shuttlepod. They are a little over 6 meters tall, and look like headless ostriches with their spindley inverted legs and egglike body. Above the cockpit glass is the rocket pod, with the noses of sixteen rockets poking out. On either side of the cockpit bubble protrude the muzzles of the pulse cannons. The Butterflies can move at a surprising speed of almost three hundred KPH on open ground, and they have limited flight ability thanks to a pair Anti-Grav Pulsegens (AGPg) mounted on the undercarriage. The pulsegens aren't meant for atmospheric manuevers, but to lift the Walker to heights that it could scale, or to cushion it's fall should it's pilot drive it off the edge of a cliff.

GOLIATH CLASS MARINE ESCORT WALKER UNIT

Goliath Walker

The two middling Walkers are the Goliaths, Escort class Walkers built with a balance in speed, firepower, and armor. They have a max speed of a little under 180 kph, which is fast enough to protect convoys and such that were being sent to groud troops. The Goliaths are nearly fifteen meters tall, shaped similarly to the Butterflies, but with thicker legs, wider feet, and more weaponry. Rather than a single small rocket pod, the Goliaths carry two rocket pods of sixteen missiles each (on what passed for the shoulders of the Walker), as well as a pair of pulsecannons and a pair of plamsa-streamers (one of each per arm), two heavy caliber machine guns (mounted in the nose), and an Implosion missile launcher mounted under the cockpit between the hips of the Walker's legs. While the Butterflies are piloted by a single person, the Goliaths have two pilots, one to coordinate the motion and fighting of the unit, and one to act as a repair specialist, fixing or rerouting past damaged areas while in battle.

SKYSCRAPER CLASS MARINE ASSAULT WALKER UNIT

Skyscraper

The last and tallest of the Walkers is the Skyscraper, an Assualt class Unit. Shaped vaguely like a runabout mounted on chicken legs, the Skyscraper is manned by three people and is designed for the bobardment of ground emplacements. It is slow, heavy, and emensely hardy with shields and armor rivaled by some shuttlecraft. Armed with rockets, homing missiles, pulsecannons, chainguns, and railguns, the Skyscraper is a walking handful of wanton destruction.
