His perfectionist attitude is directed at himself and not others. He will allow others to follow their path, only interfering if the mission is compromised. The mechanical right hand and arm he wears could be replaced at anytime but he refuses to have it replaced and maintains it as a constant remainder of his past failure. He will seldom talk about that mission's failure, dismissing as a mistake. He is extremely loyal to his commanders and will seldom hesitate to do their bidding.
Hunter possess exceptional reasoning skills and above average tactical abilities. His Institute training and mathematical skills place him in the top 20% of Starfleet computer experts.
He has had extensive combat training and experience in all aspects of Covert and small unit warfare. He is proficient with both tactical and strategic deployments of forces and skilled in or has working knowledge of all Starfleet and allied weapons systems as well as major threat force systems, both ship based and tactical.
Hunter is a graduate of Advanced Tactical/Security operations and is bridge certified for those positions. Hunter is a graduate of the advanced intelligence course provided by SI and until the Cardassian debacle was rated as Superior in all evaluations
Hunter holds a competitive level of skill in the use of the use of the Klingon Bat'leth and Mek'leth and the Andorian Chaka, as well as a handful of various martial arts. Hunter is also a gourmet cook and has a high proficiency for baking pastries.
This news shocked his parents, but they relented, assuming that Hunter would grow tired of the harsh life and rigorous existence of Starfleet and come running home, begging for the soft life of the Diplomatic Corps. Needless to say, Hunter was accepted to the academy and not only excelled, much to his parents chagrin, graduated at the top 5% of his class. Hunter received assignment to a distant subspace scanning post, on the Romulan border, far away from any danger and excitement, thanks to his fathers behind the scene antics. For three years, Hunter served diligently until he received assignment to the to the USS Rapier, an intelligence vessel.
After a year and a half of grueling training in everything form advanced intelligence gathering techniques to combat assault and LRRP patrols Hunter was assigned to the USS Rapier, a steamrunner class ship that was designed, to provide "close range intelligence and hard target assault capabilities."
A joint venture with the SF Marine Corps and Starfleet intelligence Hunter quickly found his niche. His squad was highly trained and showed exemplary marks in all training, eventually being utilized on some of the hardest fought missions of the Dominion War. The Rapier was also utilized by SI as an intelligence-gathering unit and Hunter was used as a Liaison source, since he knew his way around the inner workings of the Ambassador networks, due to his family experience. Most of the missions were simple meetings with alien agents. He did spend time in several strategic locations, such as Romulus, Andor, Qo'noS and Betazed, as well as a short stint on DS9, returning to the Rapier upon completion of the current assignment. Life was good for Hunter, but like any over sharpened blade, it would eventually lose its edge. The mission that would change his life and career at first glance seemed to be a simple one. Meet with a Cardassian mole, pick up the package he carried and return to federation space. Unfortunately, the mission suddenly got complicated, eventually involving the Romulan Tal'Shiar, a recovered Borg scout ship and a Cardassian double agent. By the end of the mission, a Cardassian science facility was destroyed, A Federation Ambassador/Romulan spy was exposed and Hunter, in addition to losing his right hand and most of the arm, was almost killed. When the dust settled, Hunter was demoted to Lt, pulled from active field status and reassigned to SFHQ. For all practical purposes, Hunter's career was effectively over.
In 2377, nearly one year after the events that turned Hunter's life upside down, he was contacted by Marine Colonel Thomas Whittimore. The colonel had served on Rapier with Shepherd and the two had been friends. Troubled by Hunter's situation, Whittimore extended an offer to get Hunter out from behind a desk. He offered him a transfer to the Federation Marine Corp at the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Hunter accepted and within weeks he was in Marine officer training. When it was over Hunter was assigned to be part of Marine Force Alpha, a Marine special forces group assigned to work as part of the Starfleet special ops outfit called Shadow Operations.
