History:
Joyce joined the marine officer training when she was 21 and graduated with high grades in therotical physics. She moved on to begin work in experimental engineering, trying to help design a lightweight impulse systems for the light transport gunships used by the Starfleet Marine Corps. After the failure of the project, she re-evaluated her area of expertise, and decided that she would be better at helping design armor and weapons for infantry marines, and thrived for several years at the Top Secret marine research establishment of Charon II Base hidden in theterran asteriod belt.
After learning that Starfleet Inteligence's elite commandos from Shadow Operations were housing marines on their ships, she asked Colonel Spears of Charon II for a transfer to the R&D base of the Shadow Operations base Umbra One. Later, when the Marine team was split off from the Ticonderoga where it was stationed, Joyce was transfered to work with the team directly on it's new ship, the USS Valkyrie.
