THIRD GRADE
In 3rd grade reading comprehension continues to be so very important. *As you read together ask your child lots of questions to make sure they are understanding and can respond to what they are reading. *Also create a family “good book” journal and write about your favorite stories to increase retelling. You can also write about good movies you watch together. *Remember reading to your child is just as important and having them read to you! *Create math story problems while grocery shopping and playing board games at home. Doing these things will help
get your child ready to take the language arts and math MEAP tests next
year in 4th grade!!!

| LANGUAGE ARTS
CURRICULUM In 3rd Grade we use the Literacy Tree Reading Program.
Literacy Tree Units At Kettering the MLPP (Michigan
Literacy Progress Profile) and Edvision are used to evaluate each student’s instruction
level, plan for classroom instruction, and to evaluate student learning.
Although language arts instruction
varies based on the needs of each individual student, in 3rd grade these
are the areas of focus for mastery learning…
Oral Reading and Retelling
We use the Four Block model
