RESEARCH SHOWS
The school year where students typically miss the most school is kindergarten. *Coming to school everyday in Kindergarten is so important!!! Research also shows that kids
who can identify all of their letters and sounds before entering first
grade have a higher high school graduation rate than those students who
can’t.
Practice the sounds each letter
makes. Make flash cards for blends (bl, th, sh, ch, etc.) and chunks
(at, ump, ight, etc.)

| LANGUAGE ARTS CURRICULUM
In Kindergarten we use the Literacy Tree Reading Program and the Letter People.
Literacy Tree Units At Kettering the MLPP (Michigan
Literacy Progress Profile) and DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) are used to evaluate each student’s instruction
level, plan for classroom instruction, and to evaluate student learning.
Although language arts instruction
varies based on the needs of each individual student, in kindergarten these
are the areas of focus for mastery learning…
Concepts of print
We use the Four Block model
