This year your child will be taking the MEAP (Michigan Education Assessment Program) test in science and social studies. TEST TAKING SKILLS *In your homework kit is a science and social studies “Quiz Show” book. Use the questions to play at home. *Use the Science Experiment chart in your homework kit and do many science experiments at home. *Use the Core Democratic Values and Constitutional Principles in homework kits at home to help with creating rules and making family decisions.

CURRICULUM In 5th Grade we use the Houghton Mifflin Reading Program.
Explore Units At Kettering the MLPP (Michigan
Literacy Progress Profile) and Edvision are used to evaluate each student’s instruction level, plan for classroom instruction, and to evaluate student learning.
Although language arts instruction
varies based on the needs of each individual student, in 5th grade these
are the areas of focus for mastery learning…
