Culture Within Our Community
Essential question: How does culture effect our community?
Nakeya:  Culture is affected when people tear down buildings and people have not place to live.
Samantha:  People have different faces, skin color, hair, eyes, clothes, and shoes.
Johnathan:  We need diversity because people would all be the same.
Essential question:  What are some goods and services produced in a community?
Cory:  A hotel is a service and a TV is a product.
Patrick:  Farmer Jack is a grocery store, that is a service.  A house is a product you can buy.
Logan:  A gas station is a service, a playstation is a product.
Marissa:  A waitress is an example of a service.  A table is a product.
Essential question:  How is money used in a community?
Danielle:  We can use money to buy food, clothes, and houses.
Cameron:  We use money for bikes and scooters.
Marvin:  We buy things like computers and houses.
Kelcie:  We use money to buy clothes.
Robert:  We use money to buy houses.
Essential question:  How do people make important decisions in a community?
Leeann:  We can make decisions by writing petitions and taking them to the city hall.
Ciara:  People that are 18 or older have the right to vote for president.  People who are in jail can not vote.
John:  The mayor of Ypsilanti that makes decisions is Cheryl Farmer.
Dwayne:  Being with good people helps you make good decisions.  The governor of Michigan is John Englar,  he makes decisions for Michigan.
Macy:  The president of the United States is Bill Clinton.  George W. Bush is going to be our next president.
 
We did a play called The Sneetches for the school board meeting to teach everyone about diversity.  We learned the Diversity Rap.
