Rachel Bilson Biography

Birthdate : November 13th, 1981

Birthplace : Los Angeles, California, USA

Birth name : Rachelle Jade Bilson

Education : Notre Dame High School (1999)

Height : 5' 4

Nationality : American

Occupation : Actor

Born in Los Angeles, California in 1981, Rachelle Jade Bilson was always treated like a princess. Her older brothers and parents spoiled her from birth and she grew up quite comfortably as a result. She had a natural flair for dramatics even before hitting the stage or standing in front of a camera. Her family encouraged her to put her attitude to use by becoming an actress and so, when she was 7 years old, her parents helped their daughter land her first role in the film, The Wrong Guys, with comedian Louie Anderson.

Rachel continued to audition for roles during her early years at Notre Dame High School. Through the recommendation of a close friend, she received a part in the seven-episode miniseries, Human Target. The role was small, but it helped Bilson realize that acting was something she wanted to do full-time. Following graduation, she pursued this new passion and hired an agent, who helped get her foot in the door.

Rachel Bilson's first high-profile gig was on stage, in a production of Bye Bye Birdie. She figured prominently in the play and used the experience as a launching pad for two more theatrical productions: The Crucible and Once Upon a Mattress.

She had landed a solid role on a fantasy series called It's True in 1998, but the show never took off because CBS couldn't find the financing to air it. Despite this letdown, Bilson continued to plug away and starred in a television commercial for Subway before finally coming into her own. Bilson reached new heights in 2003, she appeared in an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and 8 Simple Rules... for Dating My Teenage Daughter before landing the lead role in a short film called Unbroken.

Thanks to this exposure, Bilson was invited to attend an audition for FOX's potential new hit, The O.C. The show was aiming to target the same audience as previously successful shows like Beverly Hills, 90210 and Melrose Place. This was perfectly in line with Bilson's capabilities, whose youthful, vibrant personality and sexy look impressed the producers of The O.C..

They cast her as Summer Roberts, best friend of Marissa Cooper (played by Mischa Barton) and spoiled beauty who personifies the "Valley Girl" stereotype. Since the show's smashing debut in the summer of 2003, Bilson has become a much-talked about new star and has been featured in such magazines as Zink, Stuff, CosmoGirl, and YM. Rachel and co-star Adam Brody play cute couple Summer and Seth on The O.C., but rumors are flying that they're dating off-screen as well. Although they repeatedly deny any romantic attachment, they've been spotted together all around town, shopping in LA's trendy districts, hitting the clubs, and having major make-out sessions!

Mischa Barton Detailed Biography

Hailed as one of the most talented child actors of the 1990s, Mischa Barton had carved out the beginnings of an enviable career on the screen and stage by the time most kids her age were being allowed to see PG-13 movies on their own. Possessing blonde hair, blue eyes the color and approximate size of Wedgewood saucers, and precocious intelligence, Barton first came to the attention of critics and audiences as the ten-year-old heroine of John Duigan's Lawn Dogs (1997), a drama that cast her as an alienated girl whose friendship with an earthy lawn boy (Sam Rockwell) creates controversy in her exclusive neighborhood. Born January 24, 1986, in London, England, Barton was raised in the city until the age of four, when her father took a job on Wall Street that relocated the family to New York.

Following the move, she began working as a child model and taking summer camp acting classes; after being spotted by a talent agent, the aspiring actress got her first professional break on the New York stage in 1994, when she played Vodya Domik, one of the lead characters in an off-Broadway production of Tony Kushner's Slavs! Earning rave reviews for her performance, Barton went on to perform in a number of plays, including the Lincoln Center production of James Lapine's Twelve Dreams and Naomi Wallace's One Flea Spare at the New York Shakespeare Festival's Public Theatre, which cast her in the lead role of a street urchin opposite Dianne Wiest. While she was building a career on the stage and as a model for the likes of Calvin Klein, Barton was also beginning to accumulate a number of screen credits.

After doing a year-long stint on the popular soap opera All My Children, she had her first publicized screen role in the little-seen New York Crossing (1996), in which she starred as an Upper East Side schoolgirl opposite Tina Majorino and Karen Black. The film was released in 1997, the same year that Lawn Dogs came out to fairly strong reviews that resulted in the first shades of publicity for Barton. A starring role as a 13-year-old who holds up a bank alongside her boyfriend followed in 1999, in the independent drama Pups; unfortunately, the film was released only two days before the tragic killing spree at Columbine High School, and unsurprisingly, failed to earn much in the way of distribution. That same year, Barton appeared in supporting roles in both Notting Hill and M. Night Shyamalan's The Sixth Sense, the latter of which cast her as the ghost of a sickly girl.

Barton's increasing recognition was subsequently reflected by her involvement in a number of screen projects. Included amongst them was Skipped Parts (2000), a coming-of-age comedy which cast her as a sexually precocious 14-year-old who is in a hurry to lose her virginity. The film also starred Jennifer Jason Leigh, Brad Renfro, and Drew Barrymore. ~ Rebecca Flint, All Movie Guide

Barton has subsequently completed work on an additional five features. They include this past summer's Lost and Delirious (2001) opposite Piper Perabo for Lions Gate and Julie Johnson (2001) with Courtney Love and Lili Taylor; both of which premiered at Sundance. She can also be seen in Skipped Parts (2000) with Jennifer Jason Leigh and Drew Barrymore.

At age nine, Barton began her promising career in New York Theater with a lead role in Tony Kushner's "Slavs!" She soon segued into the lead role of Emma Hatrick in James Lapine's 'Twelve Dreams' at the renowned Lincoln Center. Among her varied stage credits are 'Where the Truth Lies' and 'One Flea Spare', both of which took place at the New York Shakespeare Festival.

No stranger to television, Barton had a short-term role playing the character of Corvina Lang in flashbacks on "All My Children" (1970) in 1994. She also portrayed the title role of Frankie alongside Joan Plowright in the recent Showtime feature Frankie & Hazel (2000) (TV) for producer Barbra Streisand's Barwood Films. Barton recently returned from location in Australia filming the Disney telefilm A Ring of Endless Light (2002) (TV) and segued into an eight-episode arch on ABC's "Once and Again" (1999). A longtime Manhattan resident, Barton enjoys family-life with her parents and two sisters.

Melinda Clarke

Born: 24 April 1969
Birthplace: Dana Point, California
Best Known As: Julie Cooper-Nichol on TV's The O.C.

Melinda Clarke is known mostly for her work in television, from guest shots on Xena: Warrior Princess and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation to her current role as conniving Julie Cooper-Nichol on The O.C.. Clarke started acting right out of high school, landing a role in 1989 on the daytime drama Days of Our Lives (her father, John Clarke, was a regular cast member). During the '90s she made dozens of television appearances and a few films (she was Jessica Priest in 1997's Spawn), usually playing villainous vixens, such as Velasca in Xena (opposite Lucy Lawless) and dominatrix Lady Heather in CSI (starring William Petersen).

Melinda Clarke stars on The O.C. as hot-yet-devious mom Julie Cooper-Nichol, and had a recurring role as Lady Heather on CSI. She's guest-starred on many TV shows, including Charmed, Everwood, The District, Nash Bridges, Xena: Warrior Princess, and Seinfeld.

Melinda Clarke was born on April 24, 1969, in Dana Point, California. Her father, John, is an actor, while her mother, Patricia, is a ballet dancer; with both parents in the arts, Melinda followed in their footsteps. She was trained in dance and ballet, and even as a coloratura soprano, while growing up with brother Joshua and sister Heidi (who died in 1994). Once in her teens, Melinda decided to pursue acting, her father's profession.

Born to an actor and a ballerina in Dana Point, California, Melinda Clarke seemed destined for performance. Sure enough, she moved to Hollywood to become an actress as soon as she was old enough. But fame was not instantaneous even though her father, John Clarke, was a veteran of Days of Our Lives and Melinda did her first work on that show.

By the mid-1990s, Melinda had found her niche: she found herself playing smart yet very seductive women in movies like Spawn (1997) and many TV shows, such as Xena: Warrior Princess, Seinfeld, Sliders, Nash Bridges, Star Trek: Enterprise, Charmed, Everwood, The District, and CSI.

Quote: "I'm getting a lot of roles as women who are very powerful. I think that's a reflection of me as a person." -Melinda Clarke
