Alana and I spent a couple of weeks in Corfu (an island in the north west corner of Greece), Athens (Olympic games in a couple of months? yeah right!), and the Cyclades (Eastern greek islands including Santorini and Rhodes)
We spent about a week in Corfu in a nice little hostel/hotel called The Pink Palace. However, as it was low season, the large village below us was uninhabited, expect by a couple of dogs. We spent about four days in Athens. In summary, Athens is where people like to honk their car horns and play with their worry beads. There was all manner of roadworks going on, the place was quite a shambles as they are preparing for theOlympics later on this year. I'll be interested as to how complete it all is when the time comes. For about a week we stayed on a cruise liner called the Triton. During this time we visited Patmos, Rhodes, Santorini and a few other islands which have slipped my mind. I don't if anyone has ever tried to sleep on a cruise liner before... the extreme rocking I can take but the ominous creaking of our cabin was gertting a bit too much to bear! |
| Sorry, we don't serve pink pelicans here. |
| A miniscule part of the ruins of Ephessus, nowadays only inhabited by cats (see if you can find one) |

hmmm if only I had something to read... aaah a book! Can you tell which part of the ruins of Ephessus I am in? When Ephessus was inhabited, the occupants had their slaves sit on the marble toilet seats to warm them up. |

If you can't find me anywhere, its a safe bet that I'm hanging out in the library. This is the library of Celsus, though it hasn't been in use for quite a while. |
| This ampitheatre, found in Ephessus, has a 24,000 seating capacity, and was still in use until recently when they realised that all the gazillion watt amplifiers were causing bits of it to crumble. |

| Santorini... this whole place looks like a postcard! |
| And this pretty much sums up the Santorini way of life :) |
| Here you can see Fira, the capital of Santorini, teetering on the caldera (lip of a volcano). To the right is the Triton. |
| One of the temples found in the 'agora', a couple of acres of ruins found down below the Acropolis |

The temple of Zeus... or what's left of it! In fact I think we may have had a manifestation of the mighty leader of greek gods.. there he is on the bottom right! |
