Prague
Go back to the start
Here are some pictures of the fairytale city of Prague.
Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic and until about ten years ago was under Communist rule.

Alana and I had a really nice time here, as it's possible to live it up (within reason) without breaking the bank.

A view to the 'Church of our lady before Tyn' in the old square. Thats the astronomical clock on the left in the foreground.
The old town hall in the old square. You can see the the astronomical clock down the bottom.
The astronomical clock.. a close up.
I have no idea what time it is saying!!
The door right by the astronomical clock. I don't know who lives here but I bet he gets a fright when he comes home after a night on the pilsners!!!
The detail on the door of one of the three Saint Nicholas churches to be found in Prague
In Josefov, the jewish quarter, here is a glimpse of a magnificent Art Nouveau facade.
(Having walked around Prague, I am now an armchair architecture expert)
More of Josefov
A view up to St Vitus Cathredal, the main building in Prague Palace at the top of the hill. This cathedral took almost 600 years to build!!
The gothic facade of St Vitus Cathedral
What looks like some statues of a couple of fireman on the roof of a building.
Between them is one of the many mosiac decorations.
John Lennon wall, where the 'young dissidents' used to come and express their love of westerners rock n roll, while the communists were in power (only about ten years ago!)
The river Vlatva, the national theatre (green roof), and.. erm... a giant chair
A view over the rooftops to St Vitus Cathredal
Part of a monument to one of the Czech Republics historians
The portal (not just a door, a portal!) to our humble accomodation in Prague
Some Kool Kats playing Jazz in front of St Nicholas Church
(In Slavic accent) vot shall ve play next fellas?
These guys really know how to make an entrance!
The view from our window
The 'dancing building', just around the corner from where we were staying.
