| Go back to the start |

Amsterdam, lovely Amsterdam! Holland is where my maternal ancestors come from. My mother emigrated to Australia with her family when she was only five... Hi Mum!! |
| Monika Dam, where we stayed for the conclusion of our groovy Contiki tour |
| Willhelm, the Klomper (Clog) maker, he is sure is handy with a gigantic razor sharp knife!!! |
| Hmmm, I'm not sure if this one is my size.... got any smaller? |
| The Heineken museum. These vats aren't in use at the moment though you probably shouldn't let small children play in them. |
Myself, in the Heineken museum, playing the drum kit made of beer type things As you can see I'm really getting into it!!! |
| Prost!! (cheers in German/Dutch) |
It wouldn't be Amsterdam unless a dude on a bike whizzed through your picture!! Note that all bikes in Amsterdam are daggy old things with mudguards and one painful gear Thats because if you had a shiny new bike, someone would steal it straight away! Also as there are no hills in Holland, one gear is always enough! |
| And the same picture minus the bike! |
| A beautiful picture looking up the canal |
| Your average Amsterdam street... |
| On the canal boat, cruising up the river with the Contiki crew. |
| The lovely couple.... on the Amsterdam canal cruise |
| Farewell canal boat. You can see Central Station all lit up behind. |
And on to our Contiki break up party. You can see Willhelm the clog maker with Chad the tour manager attached to his neck. It looks like its gonna topple any minute!!!! |
| Party time at Monika Dam!!! |
The next day we farewelled our Contiki friends and travelled to Gert and Anne's house (my relatives) in Soest Gert and Anne made us very welcome and very comfortable. Thats a real thatched roof you can see there! |
A cute little windmill to finish this page off. To all our Contiki friends: we had a superb time and will miss you all.. will email soon!! |
