If you want him, you're going to have to want his daughter too. Whatever the problem between you two, try to resolve it. Talk to her. Let her know how it's making you feel. Cry if you have to. If she sees you being frank and vulnerable, maybe it will move her to be open and honest with you. Is she scared of something? Does your relationship with her father threaten her in some way? If so, work with her to overcome the fear. It's not fair to put him in the middle and expect him to choose. You and his daughter have the problem so you should resolve it, not him (though he should support you in your effort).)
