| My wife and I were needed back in East Louisiana last weekend. I immediately grimaced at the thought of having to immerse myself again into the beautiful countryside which makes up that part of LA and MS. Delivering Maw Maw was my job. Job done, it was my further duty to get out of the way, which I did. I have recently invested in an electrically heated jacket liner. I will not go on and on about its worth, but I will say that the articles will get longer and more frequent. It is fabulous. During test riding the new addition, few stops were made. I was, using motorcycle speak, "in the groove", which implies a certain rhythmic riding had been achieved and comfy mile after comfy mile were flying by. But then I thought of you, my people. Guilt grasped my throttle hand causing it to slap me across my crazed face. I shook, realizing I was passing up great old stores, churches and natural points of interest, not to mention neat roads for which I am responcible to report and picture. So, I re-rode the whole route and snapped up the pictures below. |
| These are fairly representative of the mundane old views I have to endure bobbing along from hill top to hill top. The one on the left is somewhere in southwest Mississippi between Ms.27 and Ms.587. That area is a patchwork of such roads. It is incredible riding. | A Corner Store. I know you've heard of them. Or, it was a Corner Store. Louisiana near the Mississippi Line. Did the road take its parking lot and force it out of business? Looking at the pictures later does set my mind to working. |
| Kokomo,Mississippi. The old church caught my eye because of the round glass window.I don't think I have seen one like that. I thought it was a pentangle. I have a feeling that design has a meaning. There was a simular window in the same location on the front of the building. I didn't think to check the other end or back. But, I betcha it's there, too. |
| Back to Corner Stores. This one in Southern Mississippi has ample parking which has allowed it to outlive its country store times and become a Grill. I was early I hope. |
| After filling up at Athony's it might be a good idea to sleep it off at Mary Ellen's Lake. I swear that was the name of the lake below, or was it Mary Jean's Lake? It's very nice with camping. Located at the intersection of US84 and MS27. I wondered around in it for a while. |

| The Boga Chitto running along La.16 is out of its banks. Normally you would be looking at a sand barred, easy going canoe and innertube heaven. Not now. I didn't cross the swamp road, right, which is normally great. Not now. Pictured car moments later disappeared. Down the road. |
| I decided since the water was so high I might incur further flooding. This possiblity incouraged me to visit my newest favorite off the pavement riding area, Ben's Creek WMA. Yes, you have to stay on the roads but some are not very good, which is very good. Luckily the creek was cooperating and the water was nothing but scenic. Winter is such a great season to be out in it. You can see so much deeper into the scenery revealing so much more. Glad that the new addition, heat, will make it funner or more fun.
