To begin the program, students must have the following: a minimum of a 100 word sight word vocabulary, some reading fluency and some basic comprehension skills. This will take some longer than others. My goal is for everyone to be in the program by Christmas. Once everyone is in the program, we will give rewards for meeting different goals.
Please be advised that the level indicated below is a level for the test given by the AR program, and does not indicate the reading level of your child. This program is one of many ways to encourage reading and comprehension. The levels number reflect the difficulty of the comprehension tests, the difficulty of sight word vocabulary necessary and other factors. At this beginning level, we encourage children to choose books that will give them high success on their comprehension tests.
