AIDS prevention
There are many methods of AIDS prevention such as:

Street outreach: Street outreach helps because it lets people know especially, the youth that AIDS is out there. AIDS is a dangerous disease and people can be vulnerable to catching it. It lets people know and become aware that AIDS is a sexually transmitted disease. This also let's the youth know what they can do to not get the disease like using condoms. If you are planning on becoming sexually active get tested and get your partner tested and get tested often.

Testing: Testing is another way of prevention. It lets sexually active people know if  they have AIDS or not. If they do have AIDS they know not to have unprotected sex with anyone and not to give blood and not to do anything that can help spread AIDS. Some important information to know if you are a pregnant woman and have AIDS your baby will come out having AIDS as well. This is because you are passing blood to your baby during pregnancy.  Anyone who is sexually active or is planning on becoming sexually active should get tested atleast every 6 months to see if they have any sexually transmitted diseases. Not only should you get tested but your partner should get tested as well. This is the only way that people will still be able to have sex and prevent Sexually Transmitted Diseases from spreading.

Public information and Education: This way of AIDS prevention is another way of AIDS awareness. It lets people know about AIDS through the media, hotlines, and community events. What the media might do is run a story on AIDS or a whole show on AIDS. If someone famous has AIDS that will also raise AIDS awareness. Hotlines will help people who have any questions on AIDS and they also answer questions.Community events like an AIDS walk might raise money to help people with AIDS or to help with AIDS prevention program and AIDS awareness programs.

Abstinence: Abstinence is one of the easiest and the only 100% way to prevent sexually transmitted diseases. It can also prevent AIDS. Abstinence is not having sexual intercourse, oral sex, or any sexual activity, contact, anyhing having to do with sex just stay away from it. Anyone can practice abstinence, even if they've previously been sexually active. Kissing is okay. It is very unlikely and rare for you to get AIDS from kissing. Unless someone has a cut on their mouth and the blood transfers into your blood stream, but that way of catching AIDS would not be concidered sexually transmitted.Someone with a cut who has AIDS would be spreading AIDS through blood to blood contact.

Future Prevention Programs:

Needle and Syringe Exchange Programs: This program will help with people who share needles or use needles. This program will exchange old used needles for new, clean and sterilized needles. This program will also educate people on the risks of sharing needles. It will let  people who use needles know the problems that come along with drug using and sharing needles. In the city of Portland, Oregon this program has already started and it is a success there.
