Activity #1
Type of Game:  Concentration

Outcome: To reinforce reading readiness skills (sight words)

Directions:  Write the words: the, see, have, I, put, in, on, cat, bug, dog, and mat on two separate pieces of paper (to make matching cards).  Place the cards face down on the floor.  Take turns matching the sight words.  As a player turn over the cards, he or she must read the words.  When a match is made, the player keeps the cards

Activity #2
Type of Game:  Counting

Outcome:  To reinforce math readiness skills (numbers one through twelve)

Directions:  Gather beans or other small items and put them in a container.  Next, have you child make score cards by writing the numbers one to twelve, in order, on two strips of paper.  To begin, one player rolls a dice and says what number it is.  The player then takes the appropriate amount of beans and places them on his or her strip of paper.  The players take turns until someone reaches the number twelve.
