Key To My Heart

I closed the door to my heart.
Refusing to let just anyone in.
I loved and trusted only to be hurt.
And that would never happen again.

I locked my heart up
and tossed away the key.
There was no reason to open it.
None that I could see.

Then suddenly he came into my life.
And made me change my mind.
Just when I thought the key to my heart
was far to gone to find.

He held out his hand
and proved to me I was wrong.
For he possessed the key to my heart.
And he had it all along.
