The Year 2001 According to Brenda
I have to admit, I've seen more changes this past year, especially since September 11. Luckily for myself, I haven't done anything last year that I regretted (although I'm not quite so sure Illya would agree with that assessment.)
Going against my better judgment (if you can call it that), I skipped the high school reunion. But I did hear from a reliable source that Becky and Kyla were a no-show as well (I guess they couldn't get a one-day pass from prison to attend. ) I've also heard that they are in regular correspondence with Daddy Harry, so they just might break out in time for next year's fiasco.
As far as the children go, they are all still amongst the living (for how much longer, no one can say.) As far as the girls go, Antoinette has reached a new high (or low, whichever you want to call it.) She participated in her school's talent show this past fall (she demonstrated how to build a hydrogen bomb), now we're having to put her in therapy (what a laugh - I don't need a degree in Child Psychology to tell you what's what with any of my children for that matter. They have myself and their father for parents.)
Tatiana is also doing okay - she's now learning Karate and has already put it to good use at school by sending the headmaster to the hospital with a concussion (according to Tatiana, the Headmaster had called her to the office because of an incident with another student. He told Tatiana he would call us, so she kicked butt.) Other than that incident (the Headmaster has since resigned. The new one seems okay, but time will tell) she's doing okay. She's still not very people-oriented (but neither is her father, so that's to be expected, I guess) but she's working on it.
As usual, the boys are a major headache (have beren since they were born, so what else is new there?) Nick and Vanya are now eighteen (and it's a wonder they're still living. God only knows why.) Nick has already been accepted to Blair University for the upcoming fall - he's decided to go into the family business (look out UNCLE.) He did an interesting PowerPoint presentation that he had included with his application (not for the college. He's already sent in his application for UNCLE) in which he demonstrated his talents. I still have not viewed this, but am still laughed at every day over it. I'm almost scared to see it, if the truth were known. For all I know, he could've done a strip dance on it. I can always ask Lynda to pull it up, as she's the only one at UNCLE with the security clearance for the main computer. And I think that's where it's stored. I can't even get a straight answer out of her as to what's on it - all she does is double over with laughter.
Vanya has really gotten into hot water this year. Not only did he get caught speeding twice (we've since taken the Ferrarri away. We literarly had to hide it from him, since he kept finding the keys), but he left out this morning right after the ball dropped at Times Square. Needless to say, UNCLE is looking for him right now and I'm under house arrest. Nick has also disappeared with him, and now Illya and Napoleon have just left out. I don't know where they've gone, but wherever it is, it's not going to be pretty. The boys did leave one clue: a brochure of Afghanistan. All I can say is Bin Laden had better be saying his prayers to Allah, Abdullah or whoever. He'll be begging President Bush to take him into custody.
As for the better half, other than the fact that right now, he's on a plane heading for Afghanistan (I presume) to look for the boys, he's okay. He's already announced that he will be retiring from UNCLE effectivre July 1. He's been saying this every year since 1984 and has not done it yet, so nobody is taking it seriously. And, yes, we did reconcile (for the billionth time since we married.) So far, so good.
I guess with that said, I'll go pack my bags, book my travel plans online (boy is that neat) and go find the passport. And, with these "operatives" underfoot in my house, trying to keep me from gong, it won't be easy. But then, life has not been easy for me and I don't see it getting any better.
But I can stil hope. But, first, I have to go find my boys.
Keep you posted . . .
