The Year 2000 According to Brenda

Just when I thought things would be normal (or what I had always imagined would be considered normal), I get proved wrong again.  It's been another chaotic year, as the kids are getting older and I am getting grayer and Illya is getting more  acerbic.

To start with, Nick and Vanya were sent to a military school in Siberia (which I had nothing to do with.  This was entirely Illya's idea.)  This came about after an incident with a surplus military tank that they discovered in the garage.  Needless to say, the Siberian Affair lasted approximately 3 hours, as they were promptly expelled after gathering all the other students into a revolt against the faculty.  Then, we thought we had found a miracle after they were accepted into another school near Kiev (in the Ukraine.)  That was a disaster as well, the boys having been expelled after 2 hours on campus ( I suspect the KGB has their photos in their mainframe.  I'm still trying to break the code to eradicate them.)  So now, I have called in every favor I could and they are back at L'Academie de Lafayette, where they are behaving so far (I guess it helps when your father is attending classes with you.  I myself am still not allowed on the campus, but neither is Lynda.  And from what I've heard, our faces are still hanging in the headmaster's office on wanted posters.)

Antoinette is doing some better (I think the Ritalin is helping).  She is now developing more constructive interests, such as drawing (actually, she's quite good) and enjoys going to museums.  We've promised her a trip to Paris (where else?  They have some of the best art in the world) when she graduates from high school (which is still quite a few years off since she's only in the fourth grade.)  She still doesn't associate much with other kids her age, but then again you can't expect perfection.

Tatiana is also improving.  Like her sister, she doesn't care much for interacting with other kids.  She has a tendency to shy off from group projects.  Her grades are fairly good, except for she needs improvement in working with others (at least she's not as chaotic as her brothers, which is a good thing.)

What can I say other than we had a major fiasco with Aerohawke (I'll talk more about it when the book comes out).  I don't know if Lynda mentioned, but we had a hellacious good time crashing a high school reunion (when I say crash, I mean that literally.  But then, so did Becky Jameson and Kyla Davenport, who are still scum of the earth.  I swear I think their faces are on THRUSH recruitment posters.  I think I'll write about that one before I do the Aerohawke story.)  Right now, Lynda's too tied up to write it herself (there's a major computer crash at a substation in Alaska and she's been called in.)

As for the better half, well, right now we're each doing our own thing.  Actually, I'm glad for the break.  I'm enjoying myself so much, I might consult a lawyer.  Then again, I might just take him back and be done with it.

Til later . . .
