KillerwhaleFacts:
Killerwhales inhabit all the oceans of the world and have done so long before man. They're found in both open oceans, seas and coastal waters.
Male killerwhales(Bulls) at  average are about 22-27 ft in length, weighing some 8,000-12,000 lbs, when fully mature.(some as heavy as 18,000 lbs).
Female killerwhales(Cows)at average are 17-24 ft in length, weighing at about 3,000-8,000 lbs, when fully mature.
Killerwhales use their pectoral fins to steer and use their fluke(tail) to stop.
A large mature killerwhale fluke can measure some 9 ft (Tail) from tip to tip, width-wise.
Like the killerwhales fluke, their dorsal fin consist of dense layers of fibrous connective tissues with no back bone. It's considered to be one large, strong muscle.
The killerwhales dorsal fin acts like a keel ( A weight balance ),this helps to stabalize the killerwhale as it swims and dives.
Mature adult male killerwhales dorsal fin can reach the height of between 6-8 ft in tall.
Mature adult females dorsal fins are more rounded and curved and can reach the full height of between 3-4 ft tall.
Resident pods of killerwhales generally travel within a specific range where food sources are abundant. While Transient pods range of travel for hunting  is unpredictable, with no specific pattern  acknowledged thus far.
Killerwhale teeth are conical and interlocking and their teeth are 3 inches long.Killerwhales use their teeth for grabbing their pray and biting it into chunks. They do not chew their food!
Killerwhales are considered to be highly intelligent mammals to have social order within their community and they have family structure which they consider as one of their high priority.
Killerwhales have a well developed and acute sense of hearing.Their auditory cortex within the brain is highly developed as well.
Killerwhales have sharp, keen eye-sight in and out of the water.
A killerwhales core body temperature is about 97.5 degreesF.Thats 36.4 degreesC.
Female killerwhales life expectancy is around 50yrs of age and a male killerwhales life expectancy is around 30yrs of age.
Killerwhale behavior varies from spyhopping,breaching,pre-slapping and lobtailing.
