Operation BigBook Bag
�Sorors collected and donated school supplies to CPIE(Community Partners In Education) school, W.G.Nunn Elementary school.

George Washington Carver Day Display and Information Table- Sorors gave out refreshments attached with motivational poems and information on George Washington Carver, also had trivia games about Little Known Black History facts including some on George Washington Carver.

LOCAL PROJECTS

Reynelle Jackson Scholarship-scholarship established in 1994 after the death of Soror, monies raised are awarded to Valdosta State University students to help with educational expenses such as books and other educational supplies.

CPIE (Community Partner in Education)-W.G.Nunn Elementary School-Sorors volunteered time with W.G.Nunn Elementary School to work with the students to encourage them to continue with their education beyond high school.

Horn of Plenty Food Donation Contest-A new local project established Fall 2001.  Sorors in conjunction with �America�s Second Harvest�, Valdosta Food Bank, and other organizations on campus worked together to supply the less fortunate in our area with enough food to last through the holiday season.

Teddy Bear Drive-Collected stuffed animals to be given to the Valdosta
Children�s Advocacy Center and the Salvation Army. Raised more than 40
stuffed animals.
November 15-December 6, 2002

Purple Poodle Panty Raid �Sorors Collected and donated over $100 worth of new underwear to The Haven Crisis Center for battered and sexually abused women and their children. 
October 7-31, 2002

Penny Wars for Life-Sorors went to war with National Panhellenic Council, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Premier Fashion Models and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., to collect the most pennies all monies were split between the American Diabetes Association and the Valdosta Humane Society.  This event served as our annual community Service Project for sigma Gamma Rho Week 2003.  We raised over $110 in change.

April 8, 2002 Date Smart-Sorors provided information on Safe sex and Date Rape 

April 25, 2002 �Watch �Til You Drop�- Sorors Participated in Student Government Association Sponsored event to raise money for the Children�s Miracle Network.

May 1, 2002-Jan. 13, 2003 Moody Air Force Base Dance Team-Sorors served as coach and choreographer to the all girls dance team ages 10-15years.

May 4, 2002 Relay For Life-Sorors walked in support of a cancer survivor in the Valdosta State University�s chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

June 24 & June 28, 2002 VSU Orientation-Soror along with a member from Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Served as the spokesperson for the NPHC gave out information and spoke at Orientation to Greek Life Programs.

August 21, 2002 �Harambee�- Sorors set up program and gave information on Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. in conjunction with the
African-American Studies organization �Harambee�.

August 27,2002 & Jan. 14,2003  Casino Night-Soror manned and ran free games for the students of VSU hosted by the Campus Activities Board (CAB)

September 4, 2002 W.G. Nunn  (CPIE) Book Fair-Sorors gave tours to Kindergarten through fifth grade and spoke on the importance of reading.

Sept. 16, 2002-Oct. 7, 2002 Operation Big Book Bag-Sorors collected and donated school supplies to CPIE School

September 21, 2002 Prisoners of War/ Missing in Action (POW/MIA) 5k Community Run/Walk-Soror assisted military personnel from the Moody Air Force Base  in Valdosta, Ga. in the set-up and registration of participates in the run/walk.

October 6, 2002 Special Olympics-Sorors donated $45 to the special Olympics program of Valdosta.

October 7-31, 2002 Purple Poodle Panty Raid-Sorors collected and donated over $100 worth of new underwear to The Haven Crisis Center.

October 20, 2002 United Hospice-Sorors made Halloween themed crafts which included Bible Verses and inspirational quotes.

October 23, 2002 VSU Inaugural Festival on the Lawn-Sorors set up Booth and played musical chairs and passed out prizes to the Valdosta community.

October 28-29, 2002 Take Back the Night-Sorors promoted and gave out ribbons and white doves in remembrance of the victims of domestic violence and sexually assaulted women.

October 31, 2002 Langdale Halloween Carnival- sponsored by the VSU Housing and Residence Life Department participated by manning games, starred in scary story skits, served popcorn, painted faces and decorated for the event

November 7, 2002 Diversity Fair-Sorors gave out information on the sorority and on other NPHC Organizations.
November 11, 2002 Horn Of Plenty Food Donation Contest-Sorors hosted event during Founder�s Week.  Lambda Beta and other organizations on campus worked together to supply food to the Valdosta food Bank by having a contest to collect to most food in a decorative basket.

November 15-Dec. 6,2002 Teddy Bear Drive- Community service ending, Founder�s week celebration.  Sorors collected stuffed animals and gave to the Valdosta children�s Advocacy Center, and The Salvation Army. Collected 40 bears.

December 7, 2002 Valdosta WinterFest- Sorors served as beverage distributors and guides for the annual festival hosted by the Val
dosta Historical Society.

January 16, 2003 MLK Day Program-Sorors participated by ushering and providing the Occasion.  The event was sponsored by the African-American Studies Department.

January 29, 2003 Diabetes Program- Sorors teamed up with The VSU
Health Center to host a seminar on Diabetes awareness and prevention.


February 13, 2003 George Washington Carver Day-Sorors gave out refreshments attached with motivational poems and information on George Washington Carver.


February 14, 2003 St. John�s Parrish- Sorors served dinners and drinks during a Valentine�s Day Ball at the Parrish.  Sorors participate along with NPC organization including Chi Omega, Zeta Tau Alpha, Alpha Delta Pi, and Phi Mu.


February 17, 2003 Phi Beta Sigma Clothing Drive-Sorors made large sorority donation to their clothing drive.

February 23-Present Recycle VSU- Sorors collect recyclables materials from campus buildings in an effort that the  VSU community will be more knowledgeable about how to help the environment.


February 24, 2003 Food Bank community Service with Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc.-Sorors partnered with iota Phi Theta during their week to provide a day of service to � America�s Second Harvest, Valdosta Food Bank.  Sorors served by stacking cans and preparing foods for the upcoming serving times.


February 25, 2003 Bowling for Breast Cancer-  Bowling tournament hosted by Sigma Nu Fraternity Sorors bowled as a Team donating $50 to the  American Cancer Association.  Other Sorors participated on the NPHC team, while rest served as cheerleaders for both teams.


February 27, 2003 W.G.Nunn  Spring Carnival-Sorors helped CPIE School (W.G. Nunn) set up and breakdown carnival events.  Sorors also ran games for the school children.


March 1, 2003 Black Arts Festival Blood Drive-Sorors donated blood.

March 22, 2003 Multiple Sclerosis Walk/Run- Sorors represented NPHC by walking in the Walk/Run.


March 22, 2003 American Association of University Women- Sorors gave campus tours to groups of young women who are participating in the organization.

Throughout the year Sorors has heighten the awareness of topics through the use of Sigma Gamma Rho Spotlights.  Each month Lambda Beta has put out information focusing on the following topics:

October: Breast Cancer Awareness.

November: Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault.

December: World AIDS Day, AIDS and STD Awareness.

January: Diabetes Awareness and Prevention.

February: Black History featuring: George Washington Carver.

March: Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.

November 12,2002: Sigma Gamma Rho�s, 80th Year Founder�s Day Celebration Program-Sorors paid tribute to our glorious founder�s through readings about their life, poems, and a tribute step.

March 11, 2003 Sigma Palisade party- A free party provided by Lambda Beta to VSU students.

March12, 2003 Spades Nite-Sorors provided the VSU community with a way to relax and have a good time.  Sorors offered games to play such as cards, dominoes, and Uno.

March 13, 2003 �For Men Only� Men�s Appreciation Day-Sorors provided the men of VSU tips of caring for their hands and body, Sorors also provided hair trims and refreshments.

March 14, 2003 Staff Appreciation Day-Sorors gave staff and faculty of Valdosta State University gifts for the great jobs they do daily.

Rhoyal Blue Haze- party to thank VSU for their participation in our week, money raised went to expenses from week and replenishing the treasury.

October 7-30, 2002 Halloween Basket Give-away- monies raised to help pay for 80th year Founder�s Week Celebration expenses.

November 15, 2002 Poodle Paradise-Party to culminate the end of Founder�s Week.  Proceeds went to the Spring semester expenses.

February 2-13, 2003 Valentine�s Day Teddy Grams-monies raised to help pay for SE Regional Delegate and expenditures for upcoming Sigma Week.

February 8, 2003 A Royal Bite- Had Party along with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. monies went to expenses for Community Service and Informational

August 18,2002 �Welcome Back� Sheet signs-Sorors displayed sheet sign to welcome incoming students back to school at the start of the Fall semester.

August 21, 2002 Harambee-Sorors set up programs and gave information on Sigma Gamma Rho.

Door Hangers-Sorors put door hangers promoting Sigma Gamma Rho and the recent fall upcoming events, in all the residence halls in an effort to promote the sorority and its events.

August 22, 2002 Sigma Gamma Rho Fall Stroll -NPHC organizations received a chance to strut their stuff for the campus of VSU.  Sorors strolled





August 29, 2002 The Happening-Sorors set up display tables for students to view.




October 13, 2002 VSU Homecoming Step Show-set up section with large sheet display.  Sorors participated and come in 2nd place.

October 18, 2002 Neophyte Show-Sorors introduced five new Sorors to the campus of VSU.

October 25, 2002 Diversity Fair- Sorors set up information table and gave out free refreshments.

November 10-15, 2002 Founder�s Week activities placed in The Spectator, the VSU Newspaper.

April 28, 29, 30 2002 Lambda Beta Chapter End of the Year Workshop-included Officer training, SGRHO Etiquette, Sisterhood Bonding, Fundraising Planning, Community Service Planning, By-Laws Review, Activities planning and SGRHO attitude.

November 16-20,2002 New members Officer Training- Sorors trained new members in their offices.

December 8,2002 Annual Christmas Gathering-Sorors gather to exchange personal certificates of service to each other and celebrate the holiday season.

MISCELLANEOUS

Sorors celebrate each ones birthday with a chapter dinner or movie night.

Supported all NPHC Organizations Greeks by attending functions throughout their respected weeks.

Supported Phi Beta Sigma�s �Blue and White Ball

Supported and Gave gifts to newly inducted members of Alpha Phi Alpha, Phi Beta Sigma, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternities.

Actively participated in NPHC Activities, Lambda Beta represented the NPHC in the Walk/Run for Muscular Sclerosis, March 22.

Sorors are active in different organizations:  Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority, National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA), Resident Assistant, Baptist Student Union, NPHC Council, Blazin� Brigade Marching Band.
