My Poetry
Brainwashed by Society
Everyone is brainwashed by society,
Society runs a certain way,
And people accept it passively,
Whether they like it or not,
Because they feel they have no power
And no knowledge of change,
And the few individuals who do
Believe in change must aquire
incredible psychic strength to overcome
society single-handedly,
But it's possible
To Change,
But whether people are ready for it or not,
Whether people begin to stop being
apathetic,
And question and take actioin,
Society Needs change.
Written in May 6, 1997- Back in the day! :)
I grow up
And teachers,
School systems tell
Dreams are possible
I am special
Use my imagination,
And I grow up surrounded
In an unimaginative, outrageously precise,
Stress-filled, chaotic, unfortunate,
Demanding, rigid, unyielding, hostile
World,
And this,
I am surprised and uphauled,
And everything I've been taught and
Have grown up with
Does not slightly hold true in society,
Human beings,
At least the ones here
Are stupid.
Many, many high school kids and teenagers
Are suffering,
Are in pain,
They do not know what they're going through!
But are in the butt-end of an ignorant,
unfeeling society,
They have so many demands,
Perhaps more so than any other generation,
And they do not know what to do,
Life does not make sense to them,
Especially on a spiritual level,
And they simply skip school and smoke up,
Becuse society does not know better...
You know,
This country.
This gov't,
Was founded upon innovative, inspiring principles,
Fresh, new ideas
And the pple fought for change and they won,
Ever since then,
Not much changed nor innovation has taken place,
People are striving for and eventually aiming
Towards equality,
That is all,
Not much more has been done,
Society,
Since the Constitution,
Has lost its sense of innovation
To change,
To constantly make anew,
Anew
,
Society has reached a point
Where the people are unhappy
Seek happiness through material values
And all the while are being exploited by
Large businesses, organizations, and corporations
And the monarchs in the gov't
Who rule in their own personal, selfish
Interests and their party's
Rather than the country,
Otherwise
Money would flow towards the poor, starving, and needy
And not to the military and nuclear warheads,
The government sucks,
And so does society.
Capitalism sucks,
It makes pple strugge & strugge to be rich,
Yet they become unhappier & unhappier along the way,
Then the chilfren suffer & suffer,
Unlike adults,
Children can see through the fake and artificial facades,
And only know (& believe of) the genuine, the real,
Love, compassion, caring, imagination, creativity,
Honesty, sincerity, trust, innocence, naiveness
Peace, harmony, and happiness,
Adults see-
Work, money, industry, advancement,
War, conquering, anger, fear, hostility,
Conforming, Non-individualism,
Combat against Nature,
And all of the the above,
As Shakespeare said in Hamlet,
Adults are overcalculative,
And children lack some "discretion",
But at least children are innocent
And see the genuine and the fake,
The pure and impure,
The true and untrue,
And they simply know the way
(Which and whatever their parents tell them.
