A stately work of Romanesque-Gothic architecture, a real gem in the region of Lavagna. It was wished for by Pope Innocenzo IV Fieschi, between 1245 and 1252, and it still has it alternating original black and white motives on the facade. The thirteenth century lunette frescos is the work of Giovanni Barbagelato from Rapallo and the large marble rose window, with capitals different from each other, is laterally supported by four bas-reliefs. The inside is of 4 naves with a cross vault dominated by an imposing tower with two arrangements of four-light windows embellished by a sharp-angled cusp framed by 4 pinnacles. The decoration of the Basilica re-proposes the theme of the redemption and in the apse is conserved the 16th century reliquary and cross of Pope Innocenzo IV.
