HOMEWORK HOW TO

Homework is posted to the lit forum every two weeks, generally on a Wednesday. All "members" of the Ladies of Lallybroch are welcome to post the pieces they write as a result of the assignment. It is not, however, mandatory. Homework is given with the intent to keep writers writing and not with the intent of making writers insane with undue pressure.

Writers may use characters from their work-in-progress, create new characters, or use life experience (essay) to fulfill the assignment. Excerpts/pieces should not exceed 2000 words. We ask that you adhere strictly to this rule. Most of the "members" of the lit forum partipate in posting completed homework assignments, and as there are two dozen members at any given moment, it is a great effort (and labor of love) for members to read and comment on that much text while still maintaining their own daily writing goals.

Please note that homework is not critiqued in the usual sense. Readers are encouraged to give the author feedback in an overall sense, but line-by-line or in-depth critiques will not be given unless the writer specifically requests one.

Because it's not mandatory, there is no true deadline for homework. Just be aware that another assignment is going to come along every two weeks, with time off only for the end-of-year holidays. And because it's not mandatory, there is no deadline, and there's really no one in charge, there are no grades, no rewards, no penalties... which is probably the best variety of homework ever.

INSTRUCTIONS

Certain "types" of homework crop up repeatedly. Some of these are listed below along with an explanation of how to handle them.
