TAMARINDRICE:
Rice=2cup
Tamarind= lemon-size
Red chilly=6
Urad dal=2tsp
Bengal gram=2tsp
Chick peas=1tsp
Corinader seeds=1tsp
Sesame seeds=2tsp
Asafoetida= two pinch
Turmeric powder=3/4tsp
Oil=8tsp
Curryleaves=few
Salt to taste
Soak the tamarind in a cup of water.In a heated pan add 3 chillies, bengal gram and coriander seeds and fry
till golden brown.
Add sesame seeds and fry it.
When the seeds splutters, remove it from the stove and keep it aside.
Grind the mixture into fine powder.
Extract the juice from the tamarind.
In a heated pan add oil and then add bengal gram, urad dal and fry
till golden brown. Add chillies, mustard seeds, chickpeas and curryleaves
and fry it for a minute.
Add tamarindjuice, turmeric powder, asafoetida and salt and stir it well.
Cover the pan with the lid and allow it to boil for few minutes.
When the liquid thickens add the powder and mix it well.
Remove the pan from the heat.
Cook the rice.Put the rice in a large plate and let it cool for 10 minutes.
Add the Pulikkaachal to the rice and mix it well.
(Add only the required amount of Pulikkaachal according to your taste. If you want it very hot and spicy, add more of the mix.)
