CURRYLEAVES KOZHAMBU:
Curry leaves=1/2cup
Onion(small)=1/2
Garlic=15
Pepper=1tsp
Cumin seeds=1tsp
Toor dal=1tsp
Fenugreek seeds=1/4tsp
Red chilli powder=1 tsp
Turmeric powder=3/4tsp
Oil=3tsp
Asafoetida= a pinch
Salt to taste
Tamarind=lemon-size
Vadavam=1/4tsp
(If you don't have vadavam u can use mustardseeds)
Soak the tamarind in a cup of water.In a heated pan add a tsp of oil and fry the toor dal till golden brown.
Add pepper, cuminseeds and fenugreekseeds and fry for a minute.
Then add curry leaves, onion and garlic and fry it well.
Grind this mixture into a thick paste.
Extract the juice from the tamarind.
Pour the tamarind juice in a bowl.
Add the grinded mixture, chilli powder, turmeric powder, asafoetida and salt and mix it well.
In a heated pan add oil and add vadavam or mustard seeds.
When it splutters add the kozhambu mixture and close it with a lid.
Boil it for 5 minutes and remove the lid and in a low flame boil the kozhambu till it thickens.
