Herr Schultz is a Jewish fruit seller, and he lives in the Nollendorfplatz across the hall from Fraulein Schneider. They have recently become engaged, and Schultz wishes to marry Schneider. Schultz is rather naive, and he can't understand why Schneider is reconsidering his marriage proposal. He's a German like anyone else in Berlin. A rising political party doesn't mean much; he's seen governments come and go. His religion couldn't affect things that much, could it? He's friends with Sally and Cliff, and is in love with Fraulein Schneider.
He's played here by Ron Rifkin.
