| Clifford Bradshaw, or Cliff, as he likes to be called, is an American writer. He went to Berlin to get ideas for his next novel, and found Sally Bowles instead. Sally moved in with him, and they live off of the Nollendorfplatz. Until recently, Cliff ran errands for Herr Ludwig to make money. He's attracted to Sally, and at first he was willing to forget his troubles and be with her. But at Fraulein Schneider's and Herr Schultz's engagement party, he realized that you can't hide from your problems forever. Now he's determined to escape Germany before it's too late.
