Vital Stats:
Personality:
From Tasuki no Miko's manga
translations, here's what Watase Yuu had to say about Suboshi:
"The opposite
of his older brother, he is violent, determined, obstinate, and reckless.
Because his brother took the trouble to raise him after they lost their parents
at a very young age, his love for his brother (which goes too far) is rather
strong. He would even kill for his brother's sake. Because he falls in love with
Yui, the only person other than his brother who was kind to him, he hates Miaka
and is jealous of Tamahome."
My own thoughts:
Suboshi is very one-track minded and lashes out
violently when his temper flares, not thinking of the consequences. It's as
though he never learned where the line between devotion and obsession lies.
I have to admit, I really don't care for the guy a whole lot. I understand the motivation for his actions, but I wish he could simply have been more mature and thought a bit about what he was doing and how it would impact others. But I suppose the whole point of his character was to demonstrate what happens when you see your world in such a narrow light that it only consists of you and your loved ones; not the innocents next door, and the people on the other side of the planet who you may hurt in pursuing your selfish vendettas.
I just can't summon much respect for people who routinely act impulsively out of fear, hurt, or anger. It takes a lot more strength, maturity, and peace of mind to try and deal with your situation rationally.
An interesting Suboshi quote: "Don't touch my aniki!"
