| Epilogue No, no, no and for the hundredth time no! Oh, why not? I slammed the car door and turned around to give AJ an admonishing glare. Because, its the most ridiculous thing Ive ever heard of. It is not that bad, AJ said, following me up the walk and into the house. It was a month after the accident and everything was relatively back to normal. The girls had gone back to Rochester while I had moved in with AJ. A few weeks after being home, the girls decided to buy a condo in Orlando and were actually expected to arrive later that day. Setting the crate down in the foyer, I turned my attention back to AJ. I dont want to argue with you on this. Then why dont you just agree with me? Because I think its stupid! Why is it so stupid? I just looked at him with a dumbfounded expression. Shaking my head I bent down and opened the crate. A small ball of fur bounded out and scampered off down the hall, taking in his new surroundings. Looking back at AJ I said, Because no one in their right mind would name their dog after a liquor! You can call him JD for short. AJ, we are not naming the puppy Jack Daniels! Seeing how that approach wasnt working, he tried a new one. He took a step towards me, put one arm around my waist and pulled me up against him. He put his lips against my neck and kissed a trail up to my ear. Betraying me, my body trembled at his touch. If you let me name the dog Jack Daniels, Ill make you a very happy woman, he said in a deep, husky voice. While the invitation was amazingly tempting, I had to hold my ground. Naming the puppy something other then Jack Daniels would make me a very happy woman, I replied. Letting out a sigh, AJ said, You leave me no choice then. Before I knew what was happening, I was lifted into the air and was being carried through the house. I panicked when I saw the patio door looming in front of me. AJ! AJ, what are you doing? I asked. Im going to throw you in the pool, he answered without missing a beat. What!? By now we were on the edge of the pool, me dangerously close to being tossed in. AJ, if you throw me in, I will make you frustrated in a way you would rather not be, I threatened. True, but then youd be just as frustrated. Damn, he had a point. One last chance, he said. Then, as if by some divine miracle, the patio doors opened and Kayla, Kass and Juliet walked out, giving me a few seconds to come up with a plan of attack. Well, well, well. What do we have here? Kassandra asked, walking over to us. Im throwing Eve in the pool because she wont let me name the puppy Jack Daniels, AJ answered. Aw, you bought a puppy? Kayla cooed. Yup. And you can see him soon as Eve goes in the pool. Wait! I yelled. I have one last request. That being? AJ asked, intrigued. How about if the girls like the name then well name the puppy Jack Daniels and you can throw me in the pool. If they dont, I name the puppy and you get a nice dip, I said, positive the girls would take my side. Alright, AJ agreed. What do you say girls? The girls put their heads together, whispered something and then pulled apart. Weve decided, Juliet started, a huge grin on her face, That we are in favor of naming the dog Jack Daniels. What!? I screamed. You heard them, AJ laughed. Into the pool. No! AJ, you cant! Please dont throw me in- Splash! The pool, I finished once I had resurfaced. I looked up to find the four of them laughing hysterically. Think thats funny do you? I said. Just you wait till the next tour. Just you wait! |
