| Chapter 20: Aftershock Is Kevin still sulking? Kassandra asked, sitting next to me in the kitchenette. Kass! I exclaimed. Kevin is having a hard time with this. Give him a little slack. Its been three days! she remarked. He just had his heart broken by the one he really loves for the second time, Brian said, turning up from his paper to give me a pointed glance, how would you feel? Hey! I exclaimed. Its not like I meant to hurt him. You may not have meant to, but you did, Brain said and headed to the back of the bus. Great, now Brians mad at me too. Anyone else? I asked, frustrated. I still love you Princess, Nick said, walking over to the refrigerator and grabbing a Pepsi. Thanks Nicky, I said, dejectedly. Anytime, he replied, sitting across from Kass and I. You know, this isnt your fault. I know, but I still feel guilty about it. If it makes you feel better were going to shoot our video tomorrow, Kass supplied. Thats right, I said. With all that had been happening, I forgot we were scheduled to shoot the video for Dont Call Me Baby. Everything will work out Princess, Nick reassured me. Dont worry. ******************** Here you go girls. I took the story board from our director, Steve Foster, and looked it over, Kayla, Kass and Juliet reading over my shoulder. The four of us had flown out to LA to shoot the video last night. We had today and tomorrow to work on it. We then had to go back to the tour. This looks good Steve, I said, handing him the story board. Glad you girls like it, he smiled. The concept was that we all had a boy who kept messing up with us and would be like Im sorry baby and we would blow them off. The video started off with us at a club with our boys. A group of girls wearing next to nothing walks by and our boys start to check them out. The girls and I give them admonishing glares, arms crossed, all the signs that we are pissed off. Finally, getting the hint, my boy comes over and says Oh come on, baby. I then turn to him and say Do not call me baby. The girls and I walk off and the song starts. The whole video is, during the verses, scenes of each of us with our boy who is messing up, to the four of us doing our dance routine in the club during the chorus. I had to admit, it looked like it was going to be really good. Girls, if youll follow me, Ill take you back to wardrobe and make-up, the wardrobe mistress, Susan, said. We followed her to the back of the studio, each girl being assigned a make-up artist. About forty minutes later, we walked out wearing way more make-up then any of us were used to wearing. We were then ushered over to wardrobe to be given our outfits. I feel like a clown, Kayla said, pointing to the blush over-emphasizing her cheek bones. Believe me, we all do, I said, Kass and Juliet nodding in agreement. We all stood at the costume rack, waiting for Susan to give us our outfits. Here you are girls, she said, handing each of us a hanger and then walked off. Um, Eve? I dont want to sound like a spoiled pop star, but Im not wearing this, Kass exclaimed. Dont worry, neither am I, I said looking over my costume. All of us had been given the most atrocious articles of clothing on the face of the planet. If any of us thought Britney Spearss red cat suit in Oops, I Did It Again was bad, we were sorely mistaken. Kass had been given a cat suit, identical to Britneys only in hot green. Kayla had an orange, vinyl halter top with matching pants. Juliet had been given a bright purple mini-skirt with a white, mesh top. I got landed with a yellow, leather tube top and matching capris. I dont want to sound rude or anything, but those costumes are, um, um, how do I say this? We all turned to look at the girl who had been watching us. Go ahead. Theyre ugly. You can say it, Juliet commented. Yeah, they are, the girl said meekly. She was an attractive girl with shoulder length blond hair and brown eyes. She looked young, probably not much older then the girls. Would you mind if I took a look? she asked, gesturing to the rack. Be my guest, I replied. The girls watched as she thumbed through the racks, occasionally glancing back at us. After a few minutes she pulled out several hangers and distributed the contents to each of us. She took the original costumes and put them back. A smile formed on her face as she noted the expressions the girls and I were wearing. She had found us each new costumes. And they were perfect! They all matched, being red and black. Kass was given black, low waist pants with a red backless tank, Kayla had a pair of red capris with a black halter top, Juliet had a black mini-skirt with a red, sleeveless shirt with a deep V-neck and I was given a red, satin, knee-length skirt with a black sleeveless shirt that had Rock Star spelled out with red rhinestones. Wow! These are great! Juliet exclaimed. They really are, Kass agreed. The girl blushed slightly at the compliment. I never thought Eternity would actually wear something I suggested, she replied. You have a great fashion sense, I exclaimed. Whats your name? Oh! Its-- Hey girls! Sebastian interrupted. Hi Sebastian, we all said in unison. I see you met my sister, Lily, he said, putting his arm around the girl who had just found us our costumes. Your sister! we exclaimed. Yeah, he replied, giving us all an odd look. Did you know your sister has a great taste in clothes? I asked. Where do you think she got it from? Sebastian smiled. The girls just rolled their eyes, but the little light in my head went off. She seemed quite taken aback that I spoke to her, but managed a meek, Yes? How would you like to be our new wardrobe mistress? I asked. Yes! Juliet, Kass and Kayla all exclaimed. Would you like to let her answer? I asked, shooting them a glare and then turning back to Lily. So, what do you say? She looked at the girls who were all nodding vigorously, to Sebastian who nodded, then back to me. Id love to, she said. ******************** Honey, Im home! I called, entering AJs hotel room and flipping the light switch. Honey, do you know what time it is? he asked, pulling the blankets off of his head to glance lazily in my direction. Actually, I dont, I replied, flopping onto the bed next to him and placing a light kiss on his cheek. Its three a.m., he answered, wrapping his arms around me. You know what that means? What? I asked, leaning into him, realizing how well our bodies fit together. Its time to sleep! he exclaimed, reaching above him and turning off the light. Goodnight babe. Goodnight, AJ. ******************** Eve, sit still! Im sorry Emma, but I have too much energy! Well save it for the stage, my make-up artist replied. It was the next night and we were getting ready for the show. There, youre done. Go annoy someone else, she said, smiling at me. Thanks Emma, I exclaimed and hopped out of my chair. I ran across the room and flew out the door. In my excitement I didnt notice the body headed right in my direction. With a bang we collided, nearly sending me to the floor. Oh my goodness, Im so sorry, I apologized and looked up to see who I had hit. Kevin! I exclaimed shocked. Quickly, he shifted his gaze. Excuse me, he said gruffly and started off. Kevin, wait! I called after him. Eve, whatever it is, forget it, he said and continued walking. You cant ignore me forever! I cried. He hesitated for a second, almost turning around, but kept walking. Kevin, please! I pleaded. He just kept going, tears now clouding his vision. I started after him, but a voice made me stop. Eternity on in five! Damn it! I exclaimed, turning around and running back to the stage to find the girls and start our nightly routine. ******************** Princess! Wait up! Nick called after me. It was after the concert and I was wandering around back stage. Whats wrong? he asked, catching up to me. I just kept walking, head down, arms crossed. This whole situation with Kevin was really upsetting me. He was my friend and I hated seeing him in so much pain. I hated it even more that he blamed me. Princess, I know youre upset. Tell me whats wrong, Nick pleaded. I felt bad ignoring Nick. He was one of my best friends, but I really wasnt in the mood to talk. Fine, he said and turned away. I thought he was gone when I was suddenly lifted into the air. I let out a small cry as Nick threw me over his shoulder. Nick! What are you doing? Taking you to my dressing room so we can talk, he said quite simply. Nick! I dont want to! I dont care. He carried me, kicking and screaming, down the hall to his dressing room. He opened the door, walked in and threw me down on the couch. Talk. No. Talk. Nick, I dont want to. Talk. Youre not giving up, are you? I asked, noticing the determination in his eyes. Talk. Fine. So I talked. I told him all about my situation with Kevin and how much I hated what was happening. Nick sat, listening attentively while I went on. Finally I finished, Nick nodding in understanding. Kevin broods over things. I know he really loves you and itll take time, but he will forgive you. Well thats fine and dandy, but I cant stop thinking about how much I hurt him. I know you feel guilty, but dont. You did what you thought was best. Just wait it out, hell come around, Nick advised. He looked at me and noticed that my head was still hung low, my shoulders slumped in defeat. I know what will get your mind off it, he smiled mischievously. Why do I not like where this is headed, Nickolas? This is why, he said, pinning me to the couch and tickling me. I let out a surprised yelp and tried to squirm away, but it was no use. Nick is twice as big as me and had a good majority of his body over mine. Okay, okay! You win! I laughed, tears rolling down my cheeks, my sides aching. It worked though didnt it? he asked. Yeah, actually, it did, I replied. We both laid there for a minute, catching our breaths. I looked up and saw Nick staring at me. Our gaze locked and his head slowly lowered to mine. Without realizing it, his lips softly fell on mine. After a moment we slowly pulled apart. Shock, fear, confusion, hesitation. A million and one emotions flickered across our eyes. Oh, that was bad, I said, finally finding my voice. Very. It didnt mean anything though. Right? I asked, nervousness creeping in. Of course not, Nick replied, shaking his head furiously. It just happened. It was a mistake. Then we dont need to tell AJ or Kayla if it was just a mistake. Right? Right. It was just a mistake. Good, I said, sitting up. We, um, better go catch the bus. Yeah, lets go, he replied, helping me up. The two of us made our way out to the bus, not really knowing what the hell just happened. ******************** So where were you two? Kass asked as Nick and I boarded the bus. No where, we replied in unison. Suddenly, I felt a hand at my hip and I jumped slightly. Are you alright honey? AJ asked, drawing back his hand. Actually, Im not feeling very well. I think Im going to go lay down in the back for a bit, I said. Alright, AJ said, kissing my cheek before I went to the back of the bus. I couldnt think clearly. A million questions raced through my mind. What happened? What did it mean? How do I explain this? Do I explain this? I was so lost in thought that I didnt notice the other person in the room when I entered. Oh! Kevin! I exclaimed. I took note of his shaken expression and said, Ill leave. Wait! he called when I had reached the door. I turned around to find Kevin standing up facing me. I...I want to apologize for the way Ive been treating you, he started, moving closer. It wasnt fair to you. And you were right. I cant ignore you forever. But I also cant ignore how I feel. Kevin-- Wait, he said, putting his hand up to stop me, Let me finish. I love you Eve. I cant keep denying it. Youre the only one for me. Kevin, Im flattered you feel this way and I love you too, but-- You do? he cut in. You know I do, but-- But thats all I want to hear. Kevin stepped closer to me, putting his arms around my waist. Kevin, what the-- My sentence was cut off by Kevins lips on mine. As Kevin stood kissing me in the entertainment room, AJ stood on the other side of the door, watching the whole thing. |
