 American Goldfinch 

Goldfinches sport bright yellow feathers in summer,
but in winter they have a drabber appearance.
These goldfinches just invaded our yard one winter.
There were hundreds of them every day.
At one point, they were consuming 7 pounds
of birdseed per day!
