interview with Cathy Pellow, Owner and Manager of Refused TV
Paste: For bands and labels who don't have any hope of appearing on mtv,
what options does that leave?
Cathy Pellow: (Owner and manager of Refused TV)  "There are all these regional shows that people are watching because they want to see videos they can't see anywhere else.  They actually want to watch an hour of tv and see videos instead of commercials and the occaisonal Real World marathon.  So, yeah, there are a lot of new channels still utilizing videos,
which is why people are still making them..."

"Lakewater" is a new television show on Community Access Television in Erie, Pa.  THe program airs on Tuesday nights at 10:30 p.m. with repeats on Thursdays at 11:30p.m..  In the interest of adding additional good music, the show's producer has placed an open call to bands in the jamband community to send along videos for upcomnig shows.  He can accept anything on vhs, dvd, or dv.  (And since we're on this topic, why don't YOU approach
your local cable provider about creating a show - cable companies are mandated to provide local programming, why not showcase some music that you dig - at least it will break the monotony of the bulletin board scroll and "Pets Without Partners")

This sounds mighty cool.  "Lakewater", a music-video show with clips from a variety of cutting edge national and regional acts, will debut on Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. on Erie's Community Access Television (Channel 2 on Cable Vision).  Look for videos from Ani DiFranco, Guided By Voices, Supersuckers, The Means, Whirlwind Heat, John Brown's Body, Cobra Verde and more.

Producer Bob Hand says many national acts were anxious to contribute.  They know it's hard to get music video's played on... ahem,
certain music video channels these days.
