Disaster Preparedness Team
qualified by attending training offered by the
Lakewood Fire Department to become
"Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)"
certified.

If you are interested in receiving this training for your own reasons or potentially to join one of our teams, please attend one of our General Business Meetings.

Our Board Meetings normally held at 6PM on the second Thursday of each month at the 100th Street Denney�s are temporarily postponed till the end of summer.

With all the devastation, confusion, and sense of loss that we see on the news because of the many natural and man-made disasters these past few years our minds turn to our need to form our own Neighborhood Disaster Preparedness teams. The snow storm�s and eventual flooding that nearly paralyzed this region for a few days this last winter is just a minor example of the natural disasters that can effect us.

We can do this, but not with the few people we currently have. We need more people with compassion, time, and a desire to make our community safer.

If you feel, that you don't need to think about Disaster Preparedness, ask yourself the following questions:

  • How much non-perishable food and fresh water should you keep on hand?

  • What are the approved Snow Routes in our area?

  • Are you really sure you do not need flood insurance?

  • Are you prepared for a major Earthquake?

  • Do you know whom you should contact if you smell Natural Gas in or around your house or apartment after an earthquake?
      --   What would you do if they can't get there right away?

  • How long might you need to survive on your own?

  • Are you prepared for a major Power Outage?

    If you don't know all of those answers or are willing to help others, please attend our meetings to learn what you might need, how you can help, or contact us using the email link below.
