NEWSLETTER – AUGUST 2009
Welcome to the first newsletter of the 2009/2010 season. I think it is safe to say that weather wise, this has been a winter to forget. That said, the club hosted for the second time, a very successful round of the South Island Marathon Boat series on 6th June 2009. With 14 entries and a pretty flat lake, some awesome racing was enjoyed by all. Our thanks to the Tekapo Lions Club for again providing the BBQ food. Also a special thanks to Blair at Whitestone Roading for clearing the boat ramps for the day.
AGM:
The 2009 AGM is to be held at 7.30pm on Wednesday, 23rd September 2009 at 12 Sarah Street, Timaru. Come along and have your say in the future of your club. A good turnout would be appreciated.
OPENING DAY:
The season opening day is to be held on Saturday, 14th November 2009. The day will include a BBQ, Poker Run (non members welcome) and Fishing Competition (the fishing competition will be for club members only). The BBQ will be held up the lake at either Rabbit Island or Mt Hay, depending on conditions on the day. The Poker Run and Fishing competition will have EXCELLENT PRIZES, so dust off your fishing gear and get that outboard motor tuned-up!
NEW MEMBERS:
For one of this seasons initiatives, we are offering a free bottle of wine to those members who introduce new members to the club. Don’t forget that all new members get access to club ski gear, clubroom facilities plus coaching and boating help from club members. They will be able to enter the fishing competition as well. Now that’s good value for just $35.00 per family per year!
KIDS SLALOM COACHING – Thursday 17th/Friday 18th December 2009:
Gordon Handy and Johnny Chapman, two of the clubs most experienced members, are holding a two day skiing/slalom coaching workshop for young members. This is a great opportunity to have your kids taught by experts (and can also save lots of terse exchanges between parents and kids out on the water!!) before the summer break, giving your family more time to enjoy their water-skiing excursions. There will be a small charge to cover costs. So keep those two days free. More information follows in the next newsletter.
DON’T FORGET – AGM - 7.30pm, 23rd SEPTEMBER 2009, AT 12 SARAH STREET, TIMARU
