Lakeside Sailing - Dinghy Sailing on Tucson's Eastside
EVENTS:
No events @ this time. Winter is the best season for sailing here- see you out there!

TIPS:
Some basics about the lake:

Chuck Ford Lakeside Park is located at 8300 E. Stella, East of Pantano, in the Lakeside Park Neighborhood.  There is a ramp on the west end of the lake, but use caution as it is very steep.

The lake offers good sailing   when wind is SSE through N and >5 mph at the sites linked at right.  The wind is often variable in force & direction.  Due to the short fetch, wave action is limited.  I have sailed Excelsior here in 30+.

The lake contains reclaimed water; while it is not unappealing to a boater, swimming and wading are prohibited.  Bear this in mind if you capsize a lot.

Boat length limit, 14 feet. Planing hulls (laser, sunfish) are discouraged due to lake size- you'll get bored.

Seamanship matters on such a small lake.  Please give the fishermen plenty of space to enjoy their sport.  Mostly, they are nice folks.

The lake is stocked with some decent sized cats & trout, dates are announced in the local newspapers.

The late Chuck Ford was a hard-working member of the City Council in the 1980s.

WELCOME ABOARD:
Please contact me via email if you are interested in dinghy sailing at Lakeside Park.  My goals are:

1. To give tips & information about sailing at Lakeside,

2. To contact other dinghy sailors in order to plan & promote sailing events at Lakeside Park, and

3. To determine interest in a one-design dinghy class (firebug, butterfly, dewitt, ?).
