Knight - In midieval times, a gentlemen admitted with special ceremonies to honorable military rank; a champion or devoted follower of a cause or principle. The position of knight is bestowed upon a candidate who has completed all of the requirements up to and including those below. This is a position that is attained through the utmost grace and effort and is accompanied by much ceremony and celebration. A Master Squire (or Horseman) who has met all the requirements of Knighthood and has been called out for the purpose of knighting must first prepare himself for this most solemn event by participating in a prayer vigil which will be facilitated by the Household Clergy or Head of Household and will culminate in a blessing by the laying on of hands. The Knight Banneret or highest ranking available noble shall perform the knighting ceremony which includes solemn commitments, and an acceptance into a circle of brotherhood by those currently holding the rank of Knight. It is expected that no candidate shall attain to this position that has not demonstrated self-control or proper attitude in obedience to authority, regardless of other achievements attained. This shall be determined by the leadership, made up of no less than the Officiating Knight Sponsor and Household Lord, but should also include input from the Brotherhood of Knights and any other available nobility as well. Once a knight, the candidate is awarded his own Coat of Arms and is qualified to advance to the Order of the Gryphon Advanced Training. If they should choose to go on, they will be recognized as Junior Leaders and will aid in the training of Pages in the Household. The Knight is to exemplify all that is best in a Medieval Order: Chivalry, Honor, Valor, Self-control, and Integrity!
